global compassion FAQs
Why work with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC)?
MCC has a close connection with much of the BIC church in southern Africa and does excellent work in the region. Also, MCC provides many channels for personal connections to frontline people and needs. The Meeting House supports the work of MCC in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland.
Why work with World Vision?
When The Meeting House first did an assessment in southern Africa, the recommendation and agreed upon plan was to begin with MCC, our BIC partner, and then add a partnership with World Vision. In Malawi there is a growing BIC church community but no ongoing MCC country programming. As of 2013, The Meeting House community has sponsored 1,350 children in the community of Mposa, Malawi.
What is an Africa Learning Team?
As part of The Meeting House's ongoing partnership with Mennonite Central Committee, the BIC Church and World Vision, we have been invited to "Come!" to learn, share and build relationships with others. The Meeting House has sent six Learning Teams in the past four years. People who've participated have said it's a life changing experience and are eager to share what they've learned with our community.
Does The Meeting House support missionaries?
The Meeting House currently supports three extended partners (our term for missionaries). At this time we aren’t accepting new extended partner applications.
