Together with our Local Partners, we are committed to practically supporting the communities we live in through our Local Engagement theme.
Local Engagement: Practically Serving + Supporting
We believe it is important to be active in the communities where our church are - these same communities which we call home. We do this so that we can build relationship with people while also seeking justice and sharing God’s love. We partner with organizations that are already involved in neighbourhood initiatives by stepping into the areas they’ve identified as most important so that together, we can transform our communities.
Serving + Learning Together. Volunteering in our neighbourhoods is the primary way we build mutual relationships, learning from each other, and identify the best ways to strengthen our neighbourhoods. With every neighbourhoods looking differently, the activities we are engaged in look different across our sites.
Local Compassion Fund. In 2011, The Meeting House created an annual fund to provide financial assistance the work of our Local Partners. Learn more here.
We are committed to advocating for positive change when we learn of injustice in our communities. With humility we recognize that religious institutions have also caused injustice and hurt in the past. We are committed to learn from people involved, broaden our perspective, and be agents for healing and reconciliation.
