AIDS CARE 2016 Update
February is one of our favourite months at The Meeting House. It’s when our community rallies together as a family during our annual AIDS CARE campaign. With just under two weeks left of AIDS CARE 2016, we want to highlight some of the amazing ways our Meeting House community is supporting the work of our partner Mennonite Central Committee in Southern Africa. Each year, we’re encouraged by how our church body expresses compassion uniquely within their own community. Here are a few phenomenal local AIDS CARE initiatives we’ve heard about.
Also in Oakville, you’ll find an initiative combining fashion with fundraising as a few members have organized an event which raises money for AIDS CARE while promoting our value to live simplicity. As a bonus, all leftover clothing items will be donated to our annual rePURPOSE campaign in support of MCC Thrift Shops. (Stay tuned for more info about rePURPOSE this spring!)
Foodies from our Downtown Hamilton site are selling delicious frozen crockpot meals to raise money for AIDS CARE. Offering 10 different varieties of healthy and convenient weeknight meals, they’ve put together about 200 meals!
Pancakes and Samosas
Two home churches from our High Park site are also cooking up a storm to fundraise for AIDS CARE! The Mimico home church is hosting its annual pancake neighbourhood breakfast, while the Runneymede/Annette home church is selling delicious samosas.
Soup and Splash Youth Fundraiser
These are just some of the many ways members of our Meeting House community are contributing to AIDS CARE 2016. As this is the only time of the year we fundraiser for MCC’s work in Southern Africa, we’re proud that AIDS CARE has become an important part of who we are at The Meeting House.
It’s still not too late to get involved! This year’s collection date, across all sites, is February 28. Help us reach our goal of collecting 750 CARE KITS and 2300 CARE CARDS. If you need some inspiration or tips on how to run your own AIDS CARE fundraiser, check out our Invite Resources page for some ideas.
