Downtown Hamilton. What do those words mean to you?

Downtown Hamilton

When I moved here 6 years ago, Hamilton was explained in two ways: Mountain and Downtown.

Both were very clear & both very different. At times, when downtown Hamilton was mentioned, it was with a shudder; an inherent fear because, after all, it’s downtown, its messy, it’s urban-busy-industrial-cramped-congested-risky- too many people, and for some it’s just too much to think about.

Then, years ago at our sites in West Hamilton & East Hamilton, a handful of meeting housers started thinking about it.
Then a few more.
Then some home churches started meeting downtown specifically.
Then a few more.
Then some community partnerships started coming together.
Then a few more.
Then the dream of a site in downtown Hamilton started with a few people.
Then a few more.

And here we are.
It’s October and it’s amazing to think that very soon those thoughts, those plans, those dreams will become a reality. In just a few short weeks we’ll be launching our 16th site at The Meeting House in downtown Hamilton with committed leaders, committed volunteers, and a committed community that lives and works and breathes everything that is downtown. We’re part of the beautiful messiness in the heart of the city with a desire to show the heart of Jesus for the beautiful messiness that is the body of Christ: the church. So here we are. Downtown Hamilton. In community. As community. Gathered together. Serving together. Learning together. Moving towards Jesus, together. In Downtown Hamilton. Sounds good to me.
